» Payment
Gateways supported by ProductCart
ProductCart allows you to define
a variety of real time and non-real
time payment methods on your store:
credit cards, checks, purchase orders,
PayPal, custom debit cards, and more.
For real time credit card processing,
the system seamlessly integrates
with a number of leading payment
gateways. Activating
a payment gateway only takes a few
clicks.
The latest version of our ecommerce
software allows you to support three
types of possible payment processing
scenarios, which correspond to the
following payment methods:
- Real time payment methods, configured to capture funds
(credit cards are authorized and
debited). This is how real time
payment gateways are typically
setup by default. When a payment
gateway is configured this way,
a credit card transaction is at
the same time authorized (i.e.
the payment gateway checks to see
if the funds necessary for the
order are available on that credit
card account, and reserves them
for the transaction), and captured
(i.e. the payment gateway actually
debits the account). All payment
gateways supported by ProductCart
can authorize and capture funds.
Credit card information is not
saved to the ProductCart database
in this scenario.
- Real time payment methods, configured to only authorize funds
(credit cards are authorized, but
not debited until you instruct
the system to do so). Some, but
not all payment gateways support
this feature (Authorize.net, NetBilling,
and Payflow Pro currently support
this feature). When a payment gateway
is configured to only authorize,
rather than capture funds, the
customer’s account is not debited
(although the funds are reserved
for a certain amount of time and
may not be accessible for other
purchases during that time). In
this scenario, payment has not
yet been collected for the order,
and therefore ProductCart considers
it “pending”. Credit card information
is saved to the ProductCart database
in this scenario, if one of the
three payment gateways mentioned
above is used.
- Non-real time payment methods. Funds are neither authorized, nor
captured during the checkout process.
(e.g. check, purchase order, COD,
etc.). Any non-real time payment
option leads to transactions that
are processed at a later time.
All orders placed using a non-real
time payment option are considered
“pending” by ProductCart. Credit
card information is saved to the
ProductCart database in this scenario
» Processing credit cards As mentioned above, with our shopping
cart software you can accept credit
cards on your ecommerce store both
by setting up a real-time or a non
real-time payment option. ProductCart
adheres with the official "Merchant
Requirements for Securing Cardholder
Information" that were recently established
by all credit card companies
The following
is a list of real-time payment systems
that ProductCart seamlessly integrates
with. Activating any of these systems
requires very little effort. Typically,
it's just a matter of entering your
account information.

Some of the payment gateways even
allow you to batch process orders
through ProductCart, a feature that
can dramatically speed up the task
of managing your daily orders. Combined
with the ability to fully edit orders
after they have been placed, this
feature makes for fast and accurate
order processing.
